There are currently 147 UNESCO Global Geoparks in the world, one of which is located in Sai Kung, Hong Kong. To promote care for nature and green concepts, Hip Shing Hong volunteers joined hands with St. James’ Settlement to accompany a group of students from the underprivileged families to visit the East Dam of High Island Reservoir, one of the magnificent attractions in the Geopark. Led by the tour guide, students had the opportunities to closely observe some interesting geological structures, such as the world-class hexagonal rock columns, faults and distorted columns, etc. It allowed students to learn beyond the text books and explore the geological wonders created by nature.
