Mr. David FONG, Managing Director of Hip Shing Hong (Holdings) Company Limited and Chairman of Fong Shu Fook Tong Foundation and Fong’s Family Foundation, said, “Hong Kong is our home. Amid the surging fifth wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, Hip Shing Hong adheres to its commitment to corporate social responsibility by providing timely assistance to the underprivileged and people in need. We are also concerned that the elderly people, who belong to the high-risk group in the pandemic, particularly need additional protection. With our support for the elderly homes via Tung Wah Group of Hospitals and SAGE, we hope to relieve their urgent needs, as well as alleviating the community’s pressure on tackling the pandemic crisis. Besides making a donation to Tung Wah Group of Hospitals, the RAZE Antibacterial Masks and RAZE Professional Antibacterial Coating Service that we are offering SAGE adopt a cutting-edge germ-killing photocatalyst technology to provide the elderly beneficiaries with long-term extra protection. The masks serve the functions to filter and kill bacteria and viruses effectively while the photocatalyst coating works well to inactivate the coronavirus, protecting the elderly’s space for up to half a year.”

Mr. TAM Chun Kwok, Kazaf, Chairman of Tung Wah Group of Hospitals, said, “During the 5th wave of the coronavirus infection situation, TWGHs has received HK$500,000 from Fong Shu Fook Tong Foundation and Fong’s Family Foundation. I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to Mr. David FONG for his generous support to our colleagues who are working in Fong Shu Chuen Social Service Building. The funds will be used for arranging temporary accommodation in the hotels and procuring additional protective equipment for our staff, which will definitely ease the worries of our staff involved and their family members. The generous support from Mr. Fong and the Foundations came as a godsend to us, especially increased our frontline team’s morale in this difficult situation. We will keep on serving the elderly with dedication, professionalism and perseverance.”

Dr. Kim MAK, Chairman of The Hong Kong Society for the Aged, said, “SAGE appreciates the donation of anti-epidemic supplies and provision of services from Hip Shing Hong, Fong Shu Fook Tong Foundation and Fong’s Family Foundation during the severe condition of COVID-19. We are grateful to join hand in hand to protect the elderly in the current wave of the epidemic. For underprivileged elderly and those lack of family support, purchasing masks has made their onerous financial burden even heavier. SAGE will deliver the 6,700 boxes of RAZE Antibacterial Masks received to elderly people living alone or living with another elderly for better protection. On the other hand, RAZE Professional Antibacterial Coating Service will be applied to 76 rooms designated for frail elderly residents in three of our elderly homes, providing clean and safety living environment to ensure the health of the residents.”

The onslaught of the latest wave of the pandemic has caused unprecedented challenges to Hong Kong. Hip Shing Hong is committed to standing together with the Hong Kong people to battle against the COVID-19 and to ride out the difficult times.

Hip Shing Hong Puts the Health of the Employees and Tenants First by Launching a Series of Measures to Combat COVID-19
1024 711 Hip Shing Hong (Holdings) Company Limited

(Hong Kong, 28 April 2020)  Amid the continuous spread of the COVID-19, Hip Shing Hong (Holdings) Company Limited (“Hip Shing Hong”) has closely monitored the pandemic situation and launched a series of internal and external measures to fight against the virus, putting the safety and health of its employees and tenants as the top priority under this incredibly challenging period.

Hip Shing Hong cares about its people and regards the employees as its most valuable asset. Since the emergence of COVID-19, implementing preventive measures to safeguard the health of its employees and making special work arrangements have become the most compelling issues of the company internally.

Besides strengthening the anti-epidemic work in all offices, Hip Shing Hong also provided each of its employees with a hand sanitizer, two boxes of surgical masks together with an allowance of HK$500 for the purchase of additional masks. To reduce the risk of infection, a number of measures have been carried out promptly, such as flextime, work from home, shortened daily work hours, etc. For employees with young kids, they are entitled to get off from work two hours in advance to take care of their children at home stemming from school suspension.

Externally, Hip Shing Hong has been heavily involved in efforts to tackle COVID-19. In addition to proactively keeping constant communications with the tenants, Hip Shing Hong has also strengthened the cleaning and disinfection of its major commercial buildings, industrial buildings and residential properties in various ways in tandem with the raise of awareness for all the frontline staff on epidemic prevention, ensuring a healthy surroundings for the tenants.

In order to further enhance the hygiene of its properties, Hip Shing Hong has recently abandoned the use of the traditional alcohol-based disinfectants producing only short-term sanitizing effects. Instead, it has chosen the cutting-edge nano-photocatalyst technology developed by Raze Technology, a local material science company, which is effective in decomposing viruses and bacteria with a long-acting effect of up to 3 months, and has recently been widely adopted by local transportation, restaurants, shopping malls, etc. A medical grade sterilization was conducted for the common areas and facilities of Hip Shing Hong’s major properties, including Hip Shing Hong Centre, Office Plus, Genesis, etc., as well as the offices of its headquarters, and its employees were given a Raze self-sanitizing coating spray, in a bid to offer an extra protection that both the tenants and employees can count on under the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mr. David Fong, Managing Director of Hip Shing Hong (Holdings) Company Limited, said, “In the face of the overwhelming COVID-19 crisis, Hip Shing Hong has remained vigilant. While we strive to deliver excellent services, we have been working extremely hard to ensure the health and welfare of our employees and tenants. We believe we will win a resounding victory over COVID-19 if we continue to combat the virus with joint efforts.”

Hip Shing Hong Extended Care to 300 Households of Subdivided Flats with “Bedbug Control Sets”
1024 667 Hip Shing Hong (Holdings) Company Limited

(Hong Kong, 26 April 2019)  According to the Census and Statistics Department’s latest figures, there are approximately 91,800 households residing in subdivided units in Hong Kong. They have been living in a harsh and disturbing environment where facilities and hygiene are poor with their flats ridden with micro pests, particularly bedbugs. In view of this, Hip Shing Hong (Holdings) Company Limited (“Hip Shing Hong”) distributed the “Bedbug Control Sets” to 300 households living in the subdivided units on 9th – 15th April with the support of Our Hong Kong Foundation, St. James’ Settlement, Christian Family Service Centre and Society for Community Organization. Hip Shing Hong also mobilized its volunteer team to visit and deliver the bug control sets to the residents of the subdivided flats in Kwun Tong yesterday, showing care to people in need.

Hip Shing Hong’s charitable campaign was an extended initiative of the “Big Little Things” Pilot Programme organized by Business for Social Good of Our Hong Kong Foundation. The programme aims to identify challenging issues in the daily life of the grassroots community and motivate corporations to help tackle each “minor problem” with innovative solutions in a week’s time, in a bid to bring the seeds of hope to the underprivileged community. Hip Shing Hong was one of the first batch of corporations supporting the pilot programme last year by providing simple yet creative solutions to help the residents to get rid of the bedbugs and alleviate other living problems. Since the little initiative was highly applauded by the beneficiaries, Hip Shing Hong decided to scale it up to reach more people in need and help improve their living environment with the distribution of “Bedbug Control Sets”.

Mr. David Fong, Managing Director of Hip Shing Hong (Holdings) Company Limited, said, “We are delighted to collaborate with Our Hong Kong Foundation and Business for Social Good to reinforce the spirit of ‘Big Little Things’ Pilot Programme and continue to sow the seeds of hope for the grassroots community.” He added, “In last year’s pilot programme, an elderly living in a subdivided unit was very gracious with the bedbug control kit given by Hip Shing Hong’s volunteer team, saying that it was very effective in controlling the bedbugs and he was able to sleep well every night and his health improved. Therefore, I hope our charitable initiative will help raise concern and encourage tripartite efforts of the government, business and NGO sectors to alleviate the poor living condition of the subdivided flat residents.”

Mr. Bernard Chan, Convenor of Business for Social Good of Our Hong Kong Foundation, said, “The ‘Big Little Things’ initiative, led by the Business for Social Good platform, aims to leverage on the creativity of the business community to help address some pain-in-the-neck issues faced by the grassroots community, inspiring hope and happiness in a small, but tangible way. Hip Shing Hong has brought the programme’s mission to life by innovating thoughtful solutions that helped subdivided flat dwellers combat bedbugs.” He looks forward to more businesses joining the ranks of “Big Little Things” and hopes that, through the concerted effort of the government, non-profit organizations and the civil society, they can write a new chapter on how the business community can be engaged in addressing social needs.

Hip Shing Hong did not only deliver the “Bedbug Control Sets” to the residents of the subdivided units through the above-mentioned three NGOs, but also mobilized its staff to take part in the charitable activity. Mr. David Fong, Managing Director of Hip Shing Hong, led the corporate volunteer team to visit the beneficiaries in Kwun Tong yesterday, and distributed a “Bedbug Control Set” for each household, which includes anti-bug mattress and pillow protectors, door bottom seal strip, bug-killing powder, bug-killing spray and bug-repelling essence, brightening up the day of the beneficiaries. In addition to helping the residents put on the mattress and pillow protectors and install the door bottom seal strip, the volunteers also demonstrated the ways to use the bug control products, showing their dedication to enhancing the comfort of the living environment of the underprivileged. The beneficiaries expressed their gratitude for Hip Shing Hong’s generosity and care. They mentioned that they would make good use of the products and hoped they could have improved living environment and better sleep quality free from the bedbug bites.

(Hong Kong, 8 Aug 2018) Founded in 1948, Hip Shing Hong (Holdings) Company Limited (“Hip Shing Hong” or “The Group”) has been committed to upholding its four core values of “Prudence, Innovation, Excellence and Caring”. Evolved from a local trader of cinnamon and sesame into a renowned property developer, Hip Shing Hong has an extensive portfolio of prime real estate developments, ranging from Grade A private offices, upscale residential complexes, smart industrial buildings to retail shops and boutique hotels. This year marks its 70th Anniversary. To commemorate its remarkable milestone, the Group held the “Hip Shing Hong 70th Anniversary Celebration Dinner” on 8th August at Grand Hyatt Hong Kong.

The celebration dinner was graced by The Hon. Mrs. Carrie LAM CHENG Yuet-ngor, The Hon. C Y LEUNG, Mr. WANG Zhi-min, The Director of The Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in HKSAR; The Hon. Matthew CHEUNG Kin-chun, The Hon. Paul CHAN Mo-po, The Hon. Recounting the memorable moments over the past 70 years, Dr. FONG Yun-wah, Henry, Chairman of Hip Shing Hong (Holdings) Company Limited, said, “We are honoured to have our most esteemed guests here with us tonight to celebrate Hip Shing Hong’s 70th Anniversary. Over the last seven decades, we have gained valuable experience in overcoming a number of turbulent challenges and have adopted a prudent company policy. We are blessed to have laid a solid foundation, which enables us to stay competitive. Moving forward, I hope Hip Shing Hong will uphold its philanthropy tradition and continue to contribute to the prosperity of Hong Kong and our country, ensuring the company’s sustainable development.”

The celebration dinner featured many HK classic songs and showcased memorable photos of Hip Shing Hong’s and Hong Kong’s past. The highlight of the night was a chit-chat session between The Hon. C Y LEUNG and the He’nan-born quintuplets, long-time beneficiaries of Fong’s Family Foundation sponsorships. Since 1896, around 20 birth cases of quintuplets have been documented globally. There is another source pointing out that around 17 cases were recorded in China from 1996 to 2011 and only 6 cases were completely survived. When they were 18 months old, the He’nan quintuplets’ deprivation caught Dr. Fong’s attention, who then took the initiative to contact the Chinese government for the sponsorship arrangement. Since then, the quintuplets have been able to grow healthily and live happily. In the chit-chat session, the audience was touched by the dialogue, and The Hon. C Y Leung offered his blessings to the teenagers, hoping that they will give back to society and the country when they grow up. The celebration was concluded with a picturesque violin and dance performance, bringing its guests a night of enormous pleasure.
