Living in poorly ventilated subdivided units with the soaring temperatures during summer is definitely a challenge to the underprivileged families. Subsequent to the distribution of “Bedbug Control Sets” to 300 households living in subdivided flats earlier, Hip Shing Hong has recently mobilized around 20 students from CCC Fong Yun Wah Secondary School to participate in packaging 300 sets of “Summer Cooling Kits” which include fans, bamboo mats, etc. and to assist in dispatching more than 60 sets to the dwellers living in Kwun Tong’s subdivided units with an aim to cultivate the younger generation’s care for society.

In Hong Kong, underprivileged elderly are struggling to cope with the rising food costs. Many of them tend to consume food with less nutrition or of poorer quality so as to reduce their food expenses. Some may even suffer from hunger. In view of this, Hip Shing Hong volunteers prepared hot meals at the Central Kitchen run by St. James’ Settlement in Kwun Tong today and visited elderly people who have difficulties in mobility in the district with the packaged hot meals, showing concerns for their needs.
